Responsibilities

  • Leave a footprint for years to come: Be part of design, development and delivery of our next generation data platform
  • Build and maintain customized, scalable end-to-end data and ETL pipelines that empower multi-facetted analytics and data products
  • Ensure machine learning-grade data quality through continuous improvements in data cleaning and enrichment
  • Pioneer the roll-out of analytical self-services and machine learning models within the greater organization
  • Partner closely on new projects or enhancements with Data Scientists, other engineering teams as well as internal key stakeholders and data consumers
  • Build and improve internal tools by bringing in your own ideas

Qualifications

  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or a related technical field
  • Industry experience in software or data engineering and a proven track record of implementing ETL/ELT workflows in the cloud (preferably AWS) are a big plus
  • Experienced in at least one of the following languages: Python / Java / Scala
  • Strong skills in designing and evolving storage schemas as well as in efficiently querying the stored content (via SQL/DDL), preferably in context of a larger data lake or warehouse
  • First Experience with Apache Spark or the Hadoop ecosystem in general
  • Experience with stream processing frameworks, message brokers or the orchestration of workflows (e.g. using Apache Airflow or Beam) is beneficial
  • At least basic knowledge of Linux and container virtualization (e.g. Docker)

  • Great communicator with the ability to break down and simplify complex technical concepts
  • Team player / Self-driven / Pro-active / hands-on mentality
  • Quick learner and strong problem solver with attention to detail
  • Open-mindedness towards new technologies
  • Capable of taking on loosely defined problems
  • Fluent in English, German is a bonus
